Almond Valley; a fun-filled day of discovery for all of the family.

The Animals of Mill Farm

Through keeping a range of animals on the farm, we aim to offer children an introduction to farming life and help illustrate where food comes from.

Where possible, we keep breeds of livestock that would have been kept locally, or at least are typical to Scotland. Some flexibility is allowed, for example in selecting breeds that are particularly docile, or to serve educational purposes such as comparing the characteristics of different breeds

We are not a zoo and do not keep non-native species, neither are we an animal sanctuary. Through arrangements with local farmers many young animals are brought to the farm and sold on when mature.

The range of animals that you'll find at Mill Farm will therefore vary with the season and you may not find all of the animals pictured here every time that you visit.
