about the project

Commercial Breaks was supported by the Scottish Museums Council and the Heritage Lottery Fund, between 10/02 and 03/04, and involved children and parents in the creation of multimedia advertisements for products and services represented in the museum collection.

How we make an advert
Take an object and examine it carefully. Look at old books and find out what the object was used for, who used it, and what benefits it provided. Discuss how you might advertise the object to a modern audience, using modern media like TV, video and computers Draw up a storyboard, showing all the things that will happen in your advertisement Create and record all of the images and sounds that are needed for your storyboard. Use the computer to put these together to create your advertisement
