Our
mission statement is....
Almond
Valley is an independent museum that exists to preserve and interpret
the history and environment of West Lothian. Through operation
of Almond Valley we aim to make this heritage accessible, engaging
and enjoyed by everyone”
Almond
Valley Heritage Trust was established in 1990, the successor to
a series of community-based volunteer initiatives dating back to
the early 1970's. Nominated representatives from West Lothian Council
and from the Friends of Livingston Mill, our volunteer support group,
are represented on the Board of Trustees
Almond
Valley offers a unique resource for informal family-based learning,
a safe, social, and enriching environment for families and children,
and provides a broad range of opportunities for community involvement
and volunteer participation. The Trust has won a range of awards
for innovative educational and interpretative work, and was named
Scottish Museum of the Year in 2002.
Admission
prices and other charges are maintained at levels that are affordable
to all, and over 85,000 people use and visit Almond Valley every
year.
Many
organisations and individuals have contributed to this success.
