The
Almond Valley site stretches for almost a mile forming a pleasant
and peaceful green corridor beside the river Almond. At the heart
of the site lies the range of historic buildings that make up Mill
Farm and Livingston Mill. The power of the river still turns the
200 year old mill machinery, and traditional livestock still moo
and bleat around the byres and barns of the farm.
Around
this historic core, a range of new buildings have been constructed
to house a museum of West Lothian's varied history, displays of
historic machinery, education spaces, play areas, a picnic barn,
and many other facilities to serve our visitors.
Trailer
rides and our narrow-gauge railway travel to outlying fields, and
there are riverside walk ways and other green spaces in which to
relax, or run around and let off steam. |
