Telling the stories that shape Almond Valley

We may be a small, local, heritage charity, but we are custodians of some of the nation’s most important natural, built and cultural assets.

We are story seekers and tellers, hunter gatherers of the past, present and future, constantly seeking to unearth and shed light our journey so far, revealing the threads that bind our past to our future.

Almond Valley is home to Scotland’s Shale Oil Industry Collection, recognised as a collection of national importance. It tells the story of how this remarkable industry shaped local communities, transformed the landscape and influenced life in West Lothian and beyond.

Through our education programme and discovery tours, we use the power of heritage to connect people with the past, inspire creativity, and spark ideas for a better future.
